Studying Dutch fashion
There has never been a large-scale study by Dutch researchers into fashion, but this is about to change with the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) subsidising the project ‘Dutch fashion in a globalised world’ by €550.000.
Blog: Nepal adventures Week 1
20 students from the Rietveld Academie Amsterdam left for Nepal this week to work with students from Kathmandu. This exchange project was initiated by Erna Anema and is being led byAaf van Essen, Manon van Kouswijk, Matthias Keller, Ellert Haitjema, Joost Post and Sophie Krier. Design.nl asked Sophie, head of the Design Lab department at the Rietveld Academie, to keep a weblog over the coming weeks.
Public asked to help design railway station toilets
In 2008, Leiden station will be converted into a test station for the Dutch Railway (NS) and ProRail. The NS is holding a competition for the public to help design the station toilet areas of the future.
Benno Wissing (26 May 1923 – 7 January 2008)
Benno Wissing, painter, graphic designer, architect, industrial designer and one of the founders of Total Design in 1963, died on 7 January 2008.

AGI Congress film online
International congress ‘Unknown Land’ took place in Amsterdam on 26 and 27 September 2007. The congress was the initiative of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). Images of the first day of the congress can be seen at the BNO website.
Design house
Het Designhuis (The Design House) in Eindhoven is a platform that aims to bring design, art and technology together in an inspiring manner. It will include exhibitions, lectures and other events design will be for sale in the gift shop. The aim is to simulate interaction between the disciplines, as well as to strengthen international networks and the exchange of knowledge. Het Designhuis is an initiative of Li Edelkoort.
