Zuiderzee Museum buys Pyramids of Makkum and Farm
The Zuiderzee Museum has acquired Pyramids of Makkum by Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum and Farm by Studio Job for their collection.
The Museum was able to purchase the works after a donation was made by the Dutch BankGiro Lottery.
Pyramids of Makkum
The flower pyramids by Royal Tichelaar Makkum (porcelain factory) is a presentation comprising five masterpieces: the exact replica of the original flower pyramid dating from around 1700 and the four present-day interpretations by Hella Jongerius, Studio Job, Jurgen Bey, and Alexander van Slobbe.
Farm
Studio Job designed an installation of 30 bronze and rosewood objects especially for the Zuiderzee Museum. Farm is on display in Zuiderwoude, one of the barns in the Museum Park of the Zuiderzee Museum. The layout illustrates renewed interest in the countryside among contemporary designers and society in general.
