Window Display of the Year Award
Samantha van Grol, 23, has been awarded the Window Display of the Year Award.
The award is an initiative of Frans Beekwilder BV, a leading window display, decoration and display materials company. The aim of the competition is to focus attention on the art of creating window displays. Some 507 submissions were received. Van Grol was awarded the prize, a trip to New York, by jury member Edward van Vliet. Van Grol, who was nominated in the Rising Talent category, won the prize for her G-Star display, which she completed for her training course in advertising, presentation and communication.
The jury consisted of Kurien Kruithof, international concept designer with Ikea, fashion journalist Milou van Rossum and designer Van Vliet. The selection of prize winners was made under five categories: rising talent, seasonal display, festive display, fashion display and thematic display.
'A display should grab you when you see it,' the jury commented. 'That's what this display does. Its composition is strong and clear. The imagery matches G-Star perfectly. The use of space and the simple execution of the whole also contributed to the professional feel and look of this display. We think that this young talent has a bright future."(Image: winning display by Van Grol)
