Thonik: Made in China, Made by You
Check out Thonik's latest projects in their solo exhibition at the Graphic Design Museum, Breda.
Thonik exhibits recent graphic work at the invitation of the Graphic Design Museum in Breda.
For this exhibition, THONIK: MADE IN CHINA, MADE BY YOU, graphic designers Thonik orchestrated a meeting between old and new media. In all these media, Thonik adopts the same powerful graphic style, but the emotional impact and experience of the message varies according to the medium. Last year the studio attracted international attention with its design for the visual identity of the Architecture Biennale in Venice and its first retrospective in the Shanghai Art Museum. The museum's Director Mieke Gerritzen says, ‘After establishing such a prominent international profile, it is high time Thonik was given the space to show its magnificent work in a Dutch museum.’
Made in China
Thonik made an installation from sixteen hand-knotted woollen carpets inspired by existing Thonik designs for the exhibition in Shanghai. These carpets form the heart of the exhibition in Breda.
Viral Movie Museum
Thonik is building a mini-museum, the Viral Movie Museum, inside the exhibition to show their viral movies for the Dutch Socialist Party. Visitors are admitted to the mini-museum one by one where they are addressed personally.
Made by You
Thonik launches their brand new website at the exhibition. The website will contain a wide range of images and texts about Thonik’s work. Visitors will be able to compile and order their own Thonik catalogue at an interactive workstation.
