Viktor & Rolf exhibition moves to Utrecht
Following a successful summer stint at the Barbican Art Gallery in London, the exhibition ‘The House of Viktor & Rolf’ now finds residence at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht.
Showing from 25 nov 2008 - 8 feb 2009, the exhibition is the largest retrospective on the fashion design duo ever shown in The Netherlands.
Central to the exhibition is a doll's house in which each room features hand-made porcelain dolls wearing selected replica outfits from each of the designers' collections. Highlights include creations from 'Russian Doll' (A/W 1999-2000), Black Hole (A/W 2001-2002), Bedtime Story (A/W 2005-2006) and 'Flowerbomb. (S/S 2005).
In 1998, the Centraal Museum became the first museum to purchase a Viktor & Rolf creation. Subsequently, the museum has remained up to date with the duo by acquiring a piece from virtually every collection released. The museum is presenting 29 of its Viktor & Rolf acquisitions, forming a large part of the exhibition.
