Spring in the northern hemisphere is arriving, just in time for Spijkers & Spijkers' new prêt-a-porter collection for Dutch women's wear label Claudia Sträter.

The Spijkers & Spijkers by Claudia Sträter collection has been launched with a fanfare event in Amsterdam.

The Arnhem fashion duo's prêt-a-porter collection for Spring/Summer 2009 comprises 17 items, representing independence and strength in combination with feminity and elegance. Pieces range from skirts, pants, a jacket to summer dresses in bright colours like green and fuschia. Fabrics include silk, satin, jersey and linen and the print features a bold floral.

“We are huge admirers of Truus and Riet Spijkers and we are fascinated by their unique designs", explains Claudia Sträter’s head designer Ger-Jan de Gilde. "They combine their artistic flair with thorough expertise, the result of which is an exciting mix of classic and modern, power and elegance.”

The collection is now available from Claudia Sträter shops in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, the UK and Ireland.
