Furniture for children is booming: this exhibition showcases chairs for children from design classics to contemporary seats, proving that children's furniture need not necessarily look childish.

By Editor Design.nl / 15-03-2010

An exhibition featuring more than 40 children's chairs from both contemporary designers and design classics. Curated by designer Thijs Bakker, the exhibition is based on the chair collection of Henk Krabbendam.

Designers are often inspired by imminent parenthood or by the uninhibited playfulness of a child. The kid's chair is not only a scaled-down version of the adult seat, but has its own qualities in which the design, colour and material demands it to be taken as seriously as 'adult' furniture. This exhibition also aims to illustrate that children's furniture need not necessarily be childish in appearance.

Designers featured include Adem, Cil, Ineke Hans, Kids on Roof, Laura Kaptein, Lienehuis, Maartje Steenkamp, Margriet Foolen, Mark van der Gronden, Renate Vos, Richard Hutten, Plum Bum, Snodevormgevers, Studio Papas, Thijs Bakker Ontwerpt, van der Lubbe & van Eijk.
