Lidewij Edelkoort will cease her activities as chairwoman of Design Academy Eindhoven in late 2008.

In her ten years at the academy she has given it a strong profile and positioned it as a quality brand of Dutch design that has been especially successful in winning international recognition.

Driven by her profession as trend forecaster, she has consistently managed to add a twist to the Design Academy Eindhoven that has matched the demand of the time. Among the results have been the setting up of the Man and Well-being department, the introduction of the master's degree in Man and Humanity and the IM Masters under the direction of Droog Design.

She will use her passion for entrepreneurship and teaching to study the feasibility of setting up international design academies, working in close cooperation with the Design Academy Eindhoven.

Lidewij Edelkoort gave her full approval to the appointment by the academy council of Anne Mieke Eggenkamp as her successor as chairwoman. Eggenkamp has been active as a member of the management board since September 2007, and is a structured and creative specialist in education and organizational processes. She will bring her entrepreneurial and artistic qualities to the board in late 2008, when Edelkoort leaves.
