Winner of the Lensvelt Interior Prize 2008 is the interior of the bookshop Selexyz Dominicanen in Maastricht by Merkx+Girod Architects.

The Lensvelt interior design prize is awarded to a Dutch or Belgian interior project. This is the seventh year the prize has been awarded. The winner takes home €12,000. This year's winner, Merkx+Girod, created a contemporary bookshop in a former Dominican church, preserving the unique landmark setting.

The church has been restored to its former glory and the utilities equipment has been housed in the extended cellar. In order to preserve the character of the church while achieving the desired commercial square footage, the architects erected a two-storey structure in black steel on one side, where the books are kept. Keeping the shop arrangement on the other side low created a clear and decipherable shop. The jury was very impressed by these spatial solutions, as well as by the 'gorgeous lighting plan'. The combination of book complex and church interior were deemed 'particularly successful'.

The Mart Stamprijs 2007 went to the ‘Framestoel’ by Wouter Scheublin. The jury report noted that 'this chair, made from beechwood and triplex shows a fascination for construction and is a lightweight chair with completely its own character'. This is the first year the prize has been awarded. The prize is €5000.
