The Good Industrial Design award (Goed Industrieel Ontwerp-GIO) will once again be awarded this year.

The GID Award was included in the Dutch Design Awards seven years ago. Now it is again to be awarded in its own right, when the award is presented on 26 September 2008. The GIO Award celebrates products that display a level of craftsmanship and professional expertise on the part of both designer and client. Companies can submit applications from 1 April. Submissions close on 30 May.

New categories
The GIO Awards were previously awarded under six product categories: consumer products, retail, food, project design, professional products and environmental design. Two more awards have now been added: a special award for a successful client's brief and a prize for innovative use of materials.
