Food Culture
The exhibition by Premsela, the Netherlands Institute for Design and Fashion, shows how designers can help humanity to make the changes to its food chain that will be necessary in the future.
Food Culture: Eating by Design, curated by the designer Marije Vogelzang, will be open at the Designhuis in Eindhoven from 30 June through 30 September 2012. (The Designhuis is temporarily closed till June 30th due to building work of the new exhibition).
Food Culture showcases work by designers who concern themselves with the links between design, food, and the origins of what we eat. The projects on view map people’s complex relationship with food and make visitors aware of how it is produced. For instance, Vogelzang has invited the Swiss design duo Honey & Bunny to exhibit the results of their investigation into the production of everyday foodstuffs. Their work shows how a design idea lies behind every pretzel, bagel and piece of macaroni.
