As well as headquarters in Delft, Flex/The Innovation Lab has now opened an office in Prague.

The new office is called Flex/Cocoon, a joint venture between Flex and the Czech packaging design firm Cocoon. Cocoon belongs to the BR-ND group from The Hague, a design group that also includes Mountain Design, a Dutch packaging firm.

Flex says they see Eastern Europe as a growth market for design and more specifically packaging design. They chose Prague for its geographical position and the presence of a highly skilled (technical) workforce. They will initially focus on structural packaging design as, according to the company, this area is less developed in Eastern Europe than it is in Holland.

In the longer term industrial design will be added. Flex also sees the presence of many highly-skilled Czech engineers as an opportunity to extend engineering capacity in a cost-effective way.

The first projects and long-term contracts have already been realized, including multinationals Nestlé, TNT and Inbev.
