An international jury headed by Hans Wijers will appoint the winner, whose name will be announced on Sunday, October 21 during the Awards Ceremony in Eindhoven. The incentive award for young design talent, partly made possible by MINI Nederland, is a prize of € 10,000 and one year of driving a MINI Cooper 10 Years.

Mini Young Designer Award
The MYDA selection committee – comprising Tet Reuver (Studio Tet Reuver), Dimitri Nieuwenhuizen (LUST, LUSTlab and Sandberg Institute), Lena Shafir (Shafir Etcetera), Adri Vlasbom (editor in chief Elle Decoration), Krijn Christiaansen (Gerrit Rietveld Academie), Marc Glaudemans (Fontys) and Jan Carel Diehl (TU Delft) – put forward the three finalists from all the entries.

The criteria on which the portfolios of the entrants were evaluated are strict but clear and were: to have an individual style with a distinct personal vision and visual language, responding to current events, professionally active up to 5 years (no students), widely developed (talents in various forms of expression), peer-recognized talent, inventor and team player and living and working in the Netherlands.

Three Finalists
Pinar&Viola
Pinar&Viola realize daring projects in both the commercial and cultural sector in which commitment plays an important role. The investigation into the relevance of aesthetics in the current media landscape is central to their work.

Borre Akkersdijk
In the projects of designer Borre Akkersdijk various disciplines such as graphic design, animation and fashion come together. In addition, the designer puts existing materials in a new context and carries out experiments in which old techniques are applied to new applications. This combination results in a fresh and individualistic style.  

Studio Formafantasma
The artistic growth in the work of Studio Formafantasma is clearly visible. The recognizability on both national and international level, for instance, has increased considerably. The two Italian designers consider research and experimentation in materials of paramount importance.

Dutch Design Awards
