FC Autobahn font wins Utregse Diezijnprijs
Why submit your competition entry on paper in a boring plastic folder when you can draw it out in chalk on real grass like Autobahn did for their winning entry in the 2008 Utregse Diezijnprijs.
'Besides graphic design, we also love football', Autobahn, winner of Utregse Diezijnprijs 2008.
The Utregse Diezijnprijs, the Netherlands' (if not the world's) fastest design competition, was successfully held on 25 September. For the event 86 designers showed up to submit projects, (along with 300-400 supporters) which were judged on the night alongside a range of festivities. Congratulations to the winners and runners ups.
Winner: FC Autobahn, Autobahn
A font inspired by the markings on a football/soccer pitch which was first designed for the Graphic Design Festival Breda 2008 poster. On the evening, the designers brought in mats of real grass and drew out their submission with a chalk chart.
Second: Ventura light, Leo Krol and Vincent de Rijk
Third: BEARables, Esther Nijdam
A collection of seven soft animals that look like ordinary cuddly toys but in fact have some kind of ailment like for example a rash, tumor or broken limb. These toys are like 'patients' that teach children about the idea of caring and allows them to learn about sickness and health.
People's choice award: ‘Diezijn Mooi Geworden!’ - Pimping the Redlight district, Rondom Communicatie
A scheme to enliven the back elevations of prostitute boats along the Zandpad in Utrecht.
