What do you get when you cross the work of a fashion designer with an enviromental scientist? The clothing label Van Markoviec, which is set to open its new shop in Arnhem this week.

The Dutch-based label Van Markoviec, founded by the Polish duo fashion designer Kasia Markowska and environmental scientist Zuzia Andziak, was established with the vision to integrate the latest trends in fashion with innovative technologies to create a sustainable quality fashion brand with an eco-philosophy.

For each collection Van Markoviec explores new technologies to bring high quality textiles made in a sustainable manner, using among others certified organic cotton, hemp and natural silk dyed with plant pigments. Ethical production plays an integral role in the label.

This Saturday 28 March 2009, Van Markoviec will open the doors to their new shop in Arnhem. Their Spring/Summer 2009 collection will be available, comprising a daywear line and easy-to-wear leisure pieces. Nature remains an inspiring motive as the main theme of the Van Markoviec line. The third collection so far is inspired by elves, flowers and organic shapes of irises and orchids. Playful combinations of vibrant lemon-yellow and deep night-navy are complemented by subtle tones of off-white, beige and gray, defining the color mood of this collection. Eclectic silhouette forms contain narrow waists and well padded shoulders. Sharp, v-shape details appear in various forms of collars, trousers fastening and tuxedo jackets. The collection is completed by fluid and feminine dresses and blouses.
