Fair Trade organisation Tilingo Nepra worked with Dutch Design in Development (DDiD) and jewellery designer Joanne Zwart to set up a project in Nepal. The result is a collection of jewellery and bags called Jova Design.
In choosing the materials for the collection Zwart was inspired by symbolic jewellery. The Buddhist mala and the Hindu rudraksha beads were used, as well as materials readily found in Nepal such as wood, hemp, cotton and recycled bone. The items in the collection were named after people working on the project and the products will be available from April 2008.
