Dutch designers have worked on the interior of a new VIP centre at Schiphol airport.
Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands opened Amsterdam Airport Schiphol's new VIP-centre last week. The new centre is larger and offers guests more facilities than the previous one. The defining characteristic is Dutch design; everything has been designed and decorated by Dutch designers.
Use of the VIP-centre is reserved for members of the Royal Family, Ministers and State Secretaries of the Netherlands and abroad, international diplomats, trade delegations and top directors in international business. The new centre is accessible from landside and has a private parking area with security facilities. There is also a Royal Lounge for members of the Royal Family, a press centre, a Company Lounge and a number of reception and meeting rooms.
The interior was designed by architect bureau Concrete and designers including Piet-Hein Eek, Marcel Wanders, Joep van Lieshout, Hella Jongerius, Studio Job, Edward van Vliet, Maarten Baas , Jurgen Bey, René Holten, Irma Boom and Petra Blaisse.
