Digital Memories
For the debut collaboration between Tord Boontje and Bisazza, nature is once again the inspiration.
Boontje launched three new mosaic patterns and furniture pieces for Bisazza Home in Milan. Entitled 'Summer Trees', 'Dark Waters' and 'Night Vision' the patterns which clad the furniture pieces, were created using Bisazza's existing mosaics range. The collection comprises a coffee table and two cabinets in different sizes made of lacquered wood with profiles in steel.
'When I look at mosaic patterns, I am immediately reminded of a pixelated image, a digital image', Boontje says. 'We use digital images from cameras and video to capture moments of life and these become our memories. The collection of mosaic for Bisazza is based on the idea of using images that trigger memories when you look at them. A pattern of sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees can remind you of a nice summer day, a picnic in the park or daydreaming in the back of a car and watching the landscape go by.'
