Design Why? Discussion platform
Design Why? offers a four-day debate and discussion platform about design in a chaotic world.
For whom do we make design? Where does design stands today and how will it look like tomorrow? How do you, as a designer, keep up with an ever changing world? Can creativity offer impulses to offer new chances to the consumer market?
These questions and others will get a chance to be answered in the multidisciplinary programme of Design Why?, a four-day platform about design in a chaotic world. The project is organised by The Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), Creatieve Stad Den Haag (CSDH), Design Den Haag 2010-2018, Premsela, Dutch platform for design and fashion, Dutch Design Fashion Architecture (DDFA) and the magazines Items and Abitare.
The impressive line-up of speakers includes designers Martĺ Guixé, Gijs Bakker, Christien Meindertsma and Aldo Bakker alongside design industry professionals including Guta Moura Guedes (director of ExperimentaDesign), Dienand Christe and Bradley Quinn (design critics) and Anne Marie Commandeur (trendwatcher). There will also be partner presentations from designers - Ben van Berkel and Ed Annink have been invited - and mystery guests. Additional to the student exhibitions, the dynamically furnished studio done by KABK students offers room for a breakfast with the press, lectures, interviews and debates.
