ArtEZ Institute of the Arts presents Fashion and Design
Fashion and product design students from the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts will present works based on diverse themes including cultural heritage, architecture and De Stijl.
ArtEZ Institute of the Arts is one of the largest arts educational institutes in the Netherlands. It not only comprises Bachelors and Masters courses in fine arts, fashion, design, architecture, music, dance and drama but also provides an opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration.
This year ArtEZ will exhibit several collections in Milan :
Fashion Design BA: COLLECTION ARNHEM FASHION
The minor 'Collection Arnhem Fashion' is a project where third-year students work together on designing a collection of clothes, which they produce as samples and then style, present and sell. In Milaan this 11th collection of Collection Arnhem Fashion 'Graceland' will be shown, based on the prehistoric man.
Fashion Design BA: WHO IS AFRAID OF RED, YELLOW AND BLUE?
Students of the second year started with the assignment 'Who’s Afraid of Red, Yellow and Blue?' to train new design skills and to learn to experiment and analyze form. The theme makes reference to Neo-Plasticism, Abstract Expressionism and De Stijl.
Fashion Design BA: WOVEN BUILDINGS
'Woven Buildings' is a reflection and reaction to modern architecture. Through experimenting and collages students tried to find interesting new silhouettes. This is the result of the first year course experimental design that emphasizes on special design. The outfits are realized in blue denim that has been deconstructed and rewoven.
Fashion Design BA: TOILE–DE–LUXE
Fourth-year students were asked to design a coherent and complete collection based on a theme or a personal idea. Three silhouettes 'toile-de-luxe' have to be realized in black or white but in different qualities and volumes.
Product Design BA: COLLECTION ARNHEM DESIGN
This year third-year students of Product Design started research on products of their own hometown and roots. Based on local crafts and memories they started to design 19 products reflecting their own cultural heritage.
