Mercedes-Benz Netherlands has tied itself to the prestigious Amsterdam Fashion Week as the title sponsor. The Dutch fashion event will continue as Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam starting at the next edition (17-27 January 2014). This will be the first title sponsor for Amsterdam Fashion Week. Mercedes-Benz is also title sponsor for established fashion weeks such as New York, Milan, Paris, London and Berlin. This alliance seeks to confirm the growing international status of Amsterdam as ‘Fashion Capital’.

Following tradition, Mercedes-Benz and fashion have always paired well, take some important similarities such as style and design. The brand fulfills an active role in stimulating talented and ambitious fashion designers by sponsoring important Fashion Weeks all over the world.

Amsterdam becomes Fashion Capital

In recent years the Dutch Fashion Week has evolved into the biggest fashion and lifestyle event of the Netherlands. The creativity shown by young, Dutch fashion designers hasn’t gone unnoticed by the international crowd, and earned Amsterdam Fashion Week 2011 the title of best international Fashion Week. Now Amsterdam is widely seen as an ‘international fashion capital’, the connection with other Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks seems like a perfect match.

First Title Sponsor

This is the first time the national Fashion Week has had a title sponsor. The fashion event that takes place twice a year is able to support and stimulate more Dutch fashion talents thanks to their partnerships. This is achieved through education programmes such as the Fashion Faster Class, collaborations with academies and of course by organizing Fashion Weeks every six months. Amsterdam Fashion Week has found a committed and active partner in Mercedes-Benz. Peter Zijlstra of Mercedes-Benz Netherlands is in charge of the agreement: “Fashion is about style, design, class and innovation. The same goes for Mercedes-Benz which is why our brand is so closely linked with the fashion industry, both on a national and international level. It’s no coincidence we are the title sponsor of Fashion Week in 21 countries. By linking to our brand we can create an appealing, uniform event which allows the Fashion Week to position itself even better on an international level. In the Netherlands we will actively contribute to the development of Fashion Week, the biggest national fashion platform.”

The Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam 2014

The 20th edition of Fashion Week will take place from 17-27 January 2014. This ten-year anniversary will mark the theme if the upcoming Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam ‘ten years of fashion’. Some of the central themes will be Connect, Grow and Celebrate.

Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek and its partners

Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam is the largest fashion platform of the Netherlands and is targeted towards stimulating this specific industry. Seeing as Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam is the world’s only non-subsidized national fashion week, it is dependent on partnerships. Together with these partners, Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam strives to stimulate Dutch talent within the fashion industry by providing them with a place to show their collections on and off the catwalk and offering education. Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek Amsterdam has its own education programme and creates collaborations between designers, commercial labels and their partners, offering each involved party a place for ongoing development.
