First Amsterdam Denim Award awarded
A new international fashion award, the Amsterdam Denim Award was launched at July's edition of Amsterdam International Fashion Week.
Six of the most promising European designers presented their collections for Summer/Spring 2009. The collections included two denim outfits specially designed for the Amsterdam Denim Award. The line-up consisted of: and Beyond (NL), James Long (UK), Eric Lebon(FR), Andrea Crews (FR), House Of The Very Island (AU) and Patrick Mohr (DE).
The designers' work was assessed by an international jury including: Diane Pernet (A Shaded View on Fashion), Mr Yuji Yamasaki (buyer Beams Japan) and the Austrian designers Helga Schania and Hermann Fankhauser (Wendy&Jim). The jury unanimously voted for designer Eric Lebon. They had the following to say: "Lebon creates a complete image which – as far as the silhouette and the use of denim are concerned – is innovative, yet comprehensible." The winner’s prize includes production of the two outfits. (Image: Winning work by Eric Lebon, photo by Titus Brein)
